Wow, Daegu (South Korea) went from not protecting Daegu Pride in 2018 the way they should've to receiving education sessions on Queer culture and becoming public allies and vowing to protect Pride from then on and doing exactly so every single year culminating in this year when their hobgoblin of a mayor tried to destroy Pride, and now even protesting in favor of Pride? Growth.

It's important to note that the courts also supported Pride and the mayor publicly threatened the police chief, yet the police still went to protect and support Pride.
"South Korean news agency Yonhap estimated that about 500 protesters and 1,500 police officers were at the scene. The festival ultimately continued, with the parade taking place as planned."
This goes for assholes, too, guys. I know a couple who went tubing once, and they had to re-air their tubes, but the guy thought it would be funny to stick the tip of the air compressor up to her bikini trunks, the air ruptured something inside her and she died within thirty minutes.
Reblogging with a link because I thought this was a legit joke. Never heard it before. Like I knew you could kill a person by inserting air into a vein but still.

WHAT THE FUCL I hate how I didn’t learn this in sex Ed AT ALL
As a general rule of thumb, do not push air into any bodily orifice, regardless of gender. It never ends well. Air compressors and the human body do NOT mix.
>First, we’ve discovered that about a quarter of all the internet connection in or out of the house were ad related. In a few hours, that’s about 10,000 out of 40,000 processed.
>We also discovered that every link on Twitter was blocked. This was solved by whitelisting the https://t.co domain.
>Once out browsing the Web, everything is loading pretty much instantly. It turns out most of that Page Loading malarkey we’ve been accustomed to is related to sites running auctions to sell Ad space to show you before the page loads. All gone now.
>We then found that the Samsung TV (which I really like) is very fond of yapping all about itself to Samsung HQ. All stopped now. No sign of any breakages in its function, so I’m happy enough with that.
>The primary source of distress came from the habitual Lemmings player in the house, who found they could no longer watch ads to build up their in-app gold. A workaround is being considered for this.
>The next ambition is to advance the Ad blocking so that it seamlessly removed YouTube Ads. This is the subject of ongoing research, and tinkering continues. All in all, a very successful experiment.
>Certainly this exceeds my equivalent childhood project of disassembling and assembling our rotary dial telephone. A project whose only utility was finding out how to make the phone ring when nobody was calling.

>Update: All4 on the telly appears not to have any ads any more. Goodbye Arnold Clarke!

>Lemmings problem now solved.
>Can confirm, after small tests, that RTÉ Player ads are now gone and the player on the phone is now just delivering swift, ad free streams at first click.
>Some queries along the lines of “Are you not stealing the internet?” Firstly, this is my network, so I may set it up as I please (or, you know, my son can do it and I can give him a stupid thumbs up in response). But there is a wider question, based on the ads=internet model.
>I’m afraid I passed the You Wouldn’t Download A Car point back when I first installed ad-blocking plug-ins on a browser. But consider my chatty TV. Individual consumer choice is not the method of addressing pervasive commercial surveillance.
>Should I feel morally obliged not to mute the TV when the ads come on? No, this is a standing tension- a clash of interests. But I think my interest in my family not being under intrusive or covert surveillance at home is superior to the ad company’s wish to profile them.

>Aside: 24 hours of Pi Hole stats suggests that Samsung TVs are very chatty. 14,170 chats a day.
>YouTube blocking seems difficult, as the ads usually come from the same domain as the videos. Haven’t tried it, but all of the content can also be delivered from a no-cookies version of the YouTube domain, which doesn’t have the ads. I have asked my son to poke at that idea.
We’ve been struggling a lot lately. My health has been getting pretty bad and I’m up most nights losing sleep from it. I’m very exhausted and despite my new job, we aren’t able to cover temporary shelter while I look for a place for us to live. We are out of food and I don’t have my food stamps to help with that anymore either. I am burning out and really could use some support so we can finally get out of this mess and be self-dependent again. Anything helps, including shares.

My roommate is sick, we already had a lot going wrong, but my roommate woke up yesterday in serious condition and would be in the hospital right now if I could afford to bring him food while he's there. For context, he's got multiple severe and hard to accomidate allergies. He's sick from complications from celiacs.
Right now, hes stable on meds, but that wont last without food. We need funds for food urgently, next week's rent, and transportation. I've budgeted for everything he will need while sick for a week, though ik he'll be recovering for longer than that. I'm worried abt these things before anything else right now, he's all that matters to me so I have to make sure he's okay. We were able to negotiate a truce w our landlord due to the severity of the situation.
hey so my name is jake!! i’m a blasian trans gay dude and a while back i was diagnosed with hashimoto’s thyroiditis (an autoimmune disease that makes my body attack my thyroid for presumably no reason). so on december 15th, i had the surgery to get rid of my left thyroid lobe. during surgery, they found that my left lobe had 3-5 cancerous tumors and they removed my whole thyroid instead of just half. (the pics above are all the proof i have atm due to the fact that we haven’t gotten the paperwork back from the hospital)
so, long story short i still have cancer in my system, which is why i need to go through radiation therapy for it. due to the fact that my medicine (levothyroxine) can promote cancerous cells to spread & duplicate faster whencombined with the radiation therapy (don’t ask me how i don’t know) my surgeon told me that i should stay off of my medication so that my cancer doesn’t spread to my lymph nodes… and the lymph node cancer 5-year survival rate is only about 25%… which is really fucking scary
but the thing is: i can only survive 21 days without a thyroid and the horomones the thyroid gives, and my surgery happened 5 days ago.
i really cannot afford therapy, we can barely afford food rn. the surgery & numerous doctors visits that got me here took $13k+ from us, and radiation therapy will take at least another thousand from us and we really can’t do that. so unless i raise at least another 2k in the next few weeks, i’ll either die or be forced to deal with more cancer in my system which will inevitably kill me.
tl;dr: i have 16 days to raise $2k+ for post-cancer radiation therapy or i might actually die.
the sheer number of people replying positively to the idea of fucking supermarket security having free reign to execute you for shoplifting is insane i mean neurodivergent
the murder victim was a Black trans man named Banko Brown who was a community organizer with the Young Women’s Freedom Center since the age of 12. he’d been struggling with housing insecurity and still devoting all his time to helping his community for about a decade. he died just trying to survive this fucked up system. here is the gofundme set up by loved ones for his funeral services if anyone is able to contribute, it’s still about $5k off
As someone who is autistic, I cannot, CANNOT emphasize enough the damage the mantra of 'Do or do not, there is no try' did to me. Is it a quote from a fictional mutilated frog in a just as fictional universe? Yes. Did people take it onboard as an actual Thing to Live By? Yes.
Here's the deal- for me, and a ton of other neurodivergent people, trying is tantamount to one of the greatest efforts we can give. Trying is our best some days. It's giving it our all. We're gonna screw up, and fail, and probably be a little bit sad and angry because of it, but lemme tell you a secret.
Doing things halfway, means we tried. It means we didn't just walk away from it. For me for example, if I'm so depressed or in such a sensory-sensitive space that I can't unload the dishwasher, I might still be able to gather all the dirty dishes and put them in one spot for later. Can't shower? I can still run a warm washcloth over my face and put some deodorant on.
You get the gist. If you have a loved one - family, friend, or otherwise - who is on the spectrum or neurodivergent in some way and you see them struggling, don't push them to 'just do it'. Praise them for trying, encourage their efforts and don't get angry if they have to stop.
